Family and Individual Counseling/ Psychotherapy

The Family Service counseling program helps create a short-term plan with adults, children and
families so they can begin to deal with behaviors, attitudes or emotions that are causing pain to
them or others. Family Service is committed to serving families in crisis or where abuse has
occurred. Relationships, parenting, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, and child abuse are a
few of the many issues addressed in counseling.
Family Service provides all families the opportunity to resolve problems, which is why services
are available regardless of the ability to pay. With help from the United Way and community
donations, Family Service serves clients through a sliding fee scale. The fee is based on family
size and income. The Agency also accepts most insurance plans, Medicaid, and Employee
Assistance Programs.

Educational, Counseling and Therapy Groups

The Agency offers periodic close-ended groups throughout the year based on the needs of the
community and the specific Family Service client population. Examples of these are groups for
sexual abuse survivors, children of divorce, parents with special-needs children, parenting, and
victims of crime and domestic violence groups.

HIV/AIDS Therapeutic Support Group is offered for clients.  See
Groups for more information.

Post Adoption Service

The Agency provides supportive services to families who have adopted a child through the child
protective system. The purpose of the program is to assist adoptive families with problems that
arise after an adoption is consummated. Some of the services include casework/case
management, counseling, respite care, psychological and psychiatric evaluations, residential
treatment, summer camp, 24-hour crisis intervention, parenting education, support groups and
other services in support of adopted children and their adoptive families.

Case Management

Case Management (CM) services are available to all our clients.  CM provides assistance as
needed on individual/family assessment.  CM will link clients to needed social service agencies
through advocacy, education and information in the El Paso area.  CM provides assistance with
filling out and completing applications for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program
(SNAP), also known as Food Stamps. Clients in need can be assisted with access to food
pantry.  CM services are also available to help clients affected/infected with HIV/AIDS under
Ryan White Funding.
